Feminism Got My Firstborn

A watchman's confession, and a declaration of war on the doctrine that walked through the breach

Feminism got my firstborn.

I was the watchman on that wall. Whatever the doctrine did, it did on my watch, and I will not stand here indicting the enemy while hiding the ground I failed to hold. Daniel confessed before he petitioned. Nehemiah confessed before he built. So I say it first: Lord, I and my house have sinned, and the breach the enemy walked through was mine to guard.

Now hear the rest.

I am done treating feminism as an unfortunate cultural disagreement.

It is rebellion against the order of God.

It teaches daughters to despise the authority God gave fathers. It teaches wives to resist the headship God gave husbands. It teaches women that submission is oppression, dependence is weakness, motherhood is beneath them, and autonomy is freedom. It teaches men to apologize for leading and fathers to surrender their daughters to the spirit of the age.

I have watched what that doctrine produces when it reaches into a household. My own.

So I intend to fight it.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the tearing down of strongholds, as we tear down speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 LSB).

With Scripture. With preaching. With fatherhood. With ordered households. With courageous men. With women who fear God more than the world. With churches willing to call rebellion rebellion. With sons taught to lead and daughters taught that the commands of God are liberty.

God created male and female. He made the husband the head of the wife (Ephesians 5:23). He commands children to honor father and mother (Ephesians 6:1-3). He commands older women to teach younger women to love their husbands and children and to be workers at home (Titus 2:3-5).

Feminism declares war on that order.

Then war it will have.

War against lies. Never against women. Never against my child.

Every argument demolished.

Every compromise exposed.

Every cowardly surrender challenged.

Every father called back to his post, and I am the first man answering that call.

Every husband called to sacrificial headship.

Every mother reminded of the glory of her calling.

Every daughter told that freedom lives inside the order of God.

And to my firstborn, if these words ever reach you: the fight is against the lie that took you. It was never against you. The lamp in this house is lit. The door stands open. The father in the parable ran, and so will I (Luke 15:20).

I have skin in this fight now in a way I never wanted. By the grace of God, grief will drive me back to my post.

“As for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh” (Joshua 24:15 LSB).

I am done yielding ground. Starting with my own.
